smelled somthing burning today in the back seat....

So, it's a really nice day here in State College and I decide I'll take the car out for a spin down College Ave. cuz all the people stare as you rumble by and all of a sudden my subs fade out and I can smell a faint electronic burning smell So, now I'm stuck here at school with no bass and I'm not sure if I blew the amp (which is not cool considering it's an Earthquake) or if I blew one or more subs. I checked all fuses, everything is good... amp is still recieving power (little red power light is on).........and you can here very little bass coming out of subs. Anyone out there have an idea because I'm not going home for a while and I don't have the time/resources to take it apart here.

does the amp have a "protect" mode? otherwise i'd probably say try hooking each individual sub up to the amp, and work backwords to find the problem... maybe borrow a friends amp and see if thats the problem

when subs blow, they usually don't just stop working, or work at limited sound, they just sound like crap. I would say amp, disassemble the amp and look and smell for any burned hardware, this should point you in the right direction.

Yep, took the amp apart yesterday...........it's fried. Doesn't look too bad, though. I'm gonna send it back to Earthquake and have them rebuild it. Looks like where it grounds along the edges got pretty burnt up. Oh well........the fun of having a system.
