SVX get a 2.2 tranny w/ 4:11

On March 5th I will be starting my first transplant in my SVX. She will go under the knife and will get a tranny and rear out of a 96 Impreza with a 4:11 final drive. I am hoping to have it complete with in a day or two. At the same time she will get the cam seals replaced, new waterpump, t-stat, t-belt, and a full underbody green neon kit. this will be a 3 generation project because my 60 year old father and 12 year old son will be helping me. I will take as many pictures as possible and also notes. If there are any special request I will try to see what I can do, just let me know.

The tranny is a 4EAT automatic. not sure if adding cooler or not. It does not get that warm in Minneapolis, MN.

Remember, you have to swap out the ring and pinion in the rear differential, NOT THE WHOLE DIFFERENTIAL. The diff's are different. The SVX has a limited slip rear where the other subarus dont.

Huck...Heck

I like the results and it havent even gotten started.

I've had long nights thinking about a 4.44 (or 4.11) gear ratio in an SVX. If it's fairly cheap, that would be the ticket. I could deal with the higher revs during highway driving.

And yes, please put a tranny cooler in for cheap insurance. I'd hate to see something like this go astray becaus the tranny heated up a little too much. Thanks for taking this on.

And yes, I know I don't own an SVX. Perhaps someday though.

Who says it doesn't get that warm in Minneapolis? Just cause we get cold doesn't mean it doesn't get hot. Albuquerque we ain't though........

Anyway, welcome (in advance) to Minnesota. Look me up when you get here. I'll be anxious to see your project.
