5Spd trannie mount, how were the tabs welded on.

I bought the small car basic 5spd install, and it came with tabs to be welded on to the car to support the front of the 5spd brace, only problem is i cant find out how to weld the tabs on, if they go below the brace, or above the brace.

I believe that they go above the brace... (I'm not totally sure what you are talking about though...) I remember what mine looks like but we ended up not using the things that Smallcar.com sent... they were crooked!!!! So we made some mounts outta a Subaru Legacy's front door hinge!!!

If ya can be alittle more spicific I can go and look under my car in the morning and reply with a better answer...

They took the original automatic mount and flipped it upside down and mounted it in the same place, then used some steel bits that were laying around the shop and used them to connect the auto mount to the original manual trans mount that came out of the car with my 5mt. Pics in locker.

PS- I dont think the smallcar tabs will work right in the long run. They dont seem to give enough mounting area for the cross member.

Ya know for charging about $3,800 per kit they better get thier act together and start making better parts... Yea it is great that they make 5 speed kits but they need to put a little more attention to detail.... That's all...

I didn't use the smallcar tabs... I used Legacy door hinges that Shane (gotsubarus) bent and welded on instead of the little tabs... That worked, but doesn't look like the pretty's thing Might get some real tabs someday but for now the ones I have work fine...
