turn signal troubleshooting
list,
i am helping a buddy with his car, a 92 svx. he is not very mechanically inclined, i am much moreso but have zero experience with this car, or any subaru. the signals do not work at all. i don't think the 4-ways work either, at least we couldn't get them working yesterday. he said they DID work a few days ago, even when the signals were not working at that time. anyhow, today neither are working. the only thing we did was make sure the fuse was good, and it is. i have done a bit of digging in the archives here and it seems a likely culprit is the column switch. this sounds a bit scary to get into, epsecially without any sort of manual. some of the posts talked about having to disassemble the entire steering column, including removng the airbag, to get at the switch. i do not have any sort of manual for this car, so i am bit lost, and any suggestions for troubleshooting is appreciated. speaking of manuals, are there any decent ones for the svx? scott lyons |

before you start trying to remove the steering column, I'd suggest a session with a voltmeter. Start at the bulb sockets and work back in the wiring. Make sure to check ground points too. I would also check all the fuses, for some reason several systems on the SVX seem to rely on multiple fuses - not sure if the turn signals do or not.
Reaper, a forum member, has put a bunch of pdf files for the SVX on the net. Download the wiring diagrams and trace away. http://reaper450128.homeftp.net/servicecd.htm |
