DIY Rim Repair

My brother sent me this link, after commenting how badly faded my rims were:

http://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/667385.phtml

Any opinions? I'm somewhat tempted to try it (if I had the time).

Have you looked into how much it would be to just get the rims refinished?

Sometimes all the frustration is not worth it.

It's up to you if you think the project doesn't look that hard.

If you do a good job you can come and fix mine!

I have lots of wheels that you could come and fix! All you need to do is practice to get better at it!

I have a friend who did that exact thing to his rims and it looks good under close inspection you can see the repair but if your looking for a fix that wont cost you much more than your own time that's it.

This may be a real dumb question, or maybe I am missing something here, but why didn't he just pull the wheel off the car to paint it instead of masking the whole car? I would never risk overspray by painting the wheel on the car. Nice fix though. All we have to do if find a good match on the wheel color.
