code 12?

Driving more than an hour this morning, stopped to open a gate, put the car in park and got code 12 - starter switch. The idle fluctuates from near stall to 2000 and back. Does this only in park and neutral.

The selector switch on the side of the tranny? I hope I can still start the car in the afternoon .

Re: code 12?

Your symptoms are the same as mine posted here :
http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=62480

Problem still occurs in my car.

It currently has these error codes
23 = abnormal voltage from air flow sensor
12 = abnormal signal from ignition switch (http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=62748)
37 = O2 sensor 2 inoperative

Re: code 12?

Thanks,

It's weird, and has happened only twice. Both times after driving a longer stretch. The problem is evident only in N and P. Letting it sit a while cures it. Hmmm..... The dash led indicators for lever position work ok.

Must be in the start inhibition circuit from the tranny.

Anyone?

I have a piece of wire with me to jump the starting relay directly from the battery if the tranny switch starts to act up . I have done the "bosch" mode. The previous incident was prior to doing this, though.
