Are my crank and key OK?

My crank pulley came loose and this is what the pulley and crank and key look like. I think the pulley needs replacement as the keyway looks worn. How does everything else look? Is this the way the key is supposed to look?
Thanks.
Bill

Re: Are my crank and key OK?

Looks like that key should be able to pop out of there and didn't mess up the keyway on the crank. I'd get a new key for it, use threadlock (I forgot what I used) and also replace the crank pulley with a true one just to be safe. They're cheap enough to pick up used anyway.

Re: Are my crank and key OK?

Thanks Nate.
Does the key look OK like it is? Do I need to replace it?
I can replace the pulley with minimal disassembly, but I think I would need to perform further teardown and remove the timing belt gear to remove and replace the key. Is that correct?

Re: Are my crank and key OK?

Yes, you would have to take the timing belt sprocket off, I feel it is worth getting a new key and installing it. That key looks pretty borked up. They are supposed to be nice and square with sharp edges.

Re: Are my crank and key OK?

Yes, I was wondering if the key tip was worn and needing replacement, or normally shaped with a rounded tip.
I will look into replacing it.

What he said. It really needs to be replaced unfortunately.
