svx getting hot
So today I got in my Subaru SVX turned on the air conditioner and just sat in the parking lot.
AC started getting warm and the temperature guage went almost to red. I shut it down before it got in the red. Started driving it and it was fine. It has never done this before. It has a newer radiator. Both fans were working. Where do I start? |

Re: svx getting hot
I guess you checked the coolant level in the rad and in the overflow?
How is the aircon charge? sometimes a low charge will cause heat build up in the condenser which is in front of the rad so it pulls the heat into it. |

Re: svx getting hot
My initial response would have been fans, so good thing you checked.
My guess is that there is air in the system in spots and it caused localized boiling/heat buildup. Let it cool, and rebleed the system. Leave the cap open while it runs, keep the heat full blast and once the t-stat opens up top it off. May want to keep the revs up at about 2-3k rpm to really work out any trapped air but usually isn't necessary on a Subaru. |
