defrost is making clicking noise
friday i drove my car, used the defrost and it was fine. but saturday i went and started my car, turned on the defrost and now i hear a clicking noise once every second while it is on. the defrost seems to be working fine and if i turn off my defrost and use the other controls like regular heat circulating and everything and i hear no sound. just when i press the main defrost will i hear the clicking noise and it seems to be coming right from my steering column. any ideas what this could be?

Re: defrost is making clicking noise
I would suspect the "mode motor". It's located on the LH side of the heater box and it moves the air flow control flaps. Around one hundred bucks....

Re: defrost is making clicking noise
Down load the AC part of the FSM from here:
http://phantomotaku.com/SVX/ The mode motor should throw a code too - the instructions for pulling the codes are in manual too. It is just a motor+plastic gearbox to move the flaps around. Close to the gas pedal. A bit tricky to swap, but I did it - you can do it too . Tapani |

Re: defrost is making clicking noise
just look up under your dash when you hear the clicking and feel around. you will be able to feel where it is coming from and if it has an electrical connector unplug it to see if it stops. this is common on small motors like this because a tooth will get worn down on the gear and sometimes it will continuously click as it spins one gear with good teeth past a gear with bad teeth that isn't moving.
