Hey..... I recognise that photo!!

The owner of the red SVX is Bruce (viking64).

He is also in Sydney (about 15 min away from me!)

Jason.

I did acknowledge the photo came from you Jason.

If you read back you will see where in Harvey's post Subaru are saying only one red SVX was sold. Others here say there are 2 of them around.

Joe its Lan that's going to do the Job. Yes we are going to change the radiator and at this point the electric water pump doesn't have enough flow to handle the engine so we need to do more work on the cooling of the engine as it seems to be a big problem. I agree about Bob so I will look over it again.

How have you determined how much flow the engine requires?

What pump is it you say will not flow enough, what make is it, how much will it output?

Danny [Silver Spear] sent me this link, and I like the 110 litre model, it looks well specified. Are you sure something like this would not be good enough?

Joe I had a Craig 110Litre in one of my SVX's it wasn't good enough. From memory the current pump has a flow of over 200 litres so anything less is going backwards. My personal opinion is that the problem is somewhere else in the engine and I need to find out were. My guess is the engine doesn't have large enough passages to flow the amount of water to do get rid of the heat. Was thinking of getting an engine and put electric motor onto the pump and bench test were the problem is with the flow as regards restrictions.
Kiwis have been a bit quite, I hear they all live in Australia anyway.

Harvey, your article is probably the one. It's interesting they mention 2 yellows and only 1 red!!

This corroborates the numbers that I mention above about the yellows. Reds are actually very common elsewhere than Australia obviously [], but yellows seem to be at around the 5-7 mark worldwide, probably less than 10 cars for sure.

Joe

no that's not the article i read, i'll see if i've still got the open road at home

Joe the manual says 200l per min at 6,000 rpm. Would be interesting to find out the flow rate of a STI, know anyone that can help. The total water head is an interesting number 5 mAq at 3,000 rpm to 23 mAq at 6,000 rpm

There are at least two reds as I recall - one was in Perth at the same time that I was test driving one in Sydney

The Perth owner had a Cerbera also - cannot remember the fellows name

Nope, I think the guy I am talking about sold his. His was supposed to be the first. I know his name (John), and the number plates were JR-####. This was back in the 90's of course.

The guy on the left between the cars is indeed Bruce (viking64), with a red SVX. The older guy at the back on the right with the camera is, in fact, my dad.

I have driven two different red SVX's, both were for sale years ago. Both had the red roof. The red one I'm referring to owned by "John" had the black roof (i.e. is a pre-'94). His was, I was told, in fact pre-ordered and imported by Japan before SVX's went on sale, and as such may be JDM (He had plenty of cash to do it). It was supposed to be "The First" in Aus, but I can't substantiate that.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I have been AWOL for a while with no computer and too much work.
