advice on what to do

I have the chance to buy my brothers black SVX it has 180k on it and a shagged transmission, the interior is good is what it worth it ? whats a good price for a car with problems, should I go manual? does anyone know what other autos can be used ?

You can get autos for SVX's from the Jap importers for about 1k. Its no big deal to replace. What year model is it will determine price. If it a 92, 93 I won't pay mare then 5k depending on the condiation of the rest.

1992 - SVX 255 K Wife (Want to stay Married so not allowed to fit SC)
1992 - SVX Pearl with black roof race car roll cauge etc ready to race. Ex Tasman Targa car.
1995 - SVX Green low k mint condiation.
1995 - SVX Rally car, ex Matts car. Now to be used on track.
1992 - SVX red & Black being converted to Mid Engine.
1995 - SVX Red 143,000 bit rough.
Owned 5 others Subaru back to a 1974 1400 GSR.

well its a 92 i think? the paint isnt too bad everything works except the auto but im not sure i want to sink too much into it i dont have the facilities to do much work on it so i'm stuck with paying someone to do it. as much as i like them im thinking it may be beyond my budget

Over here, NZ$5K would be with a serviceable transmission. As is say $2k.

does it drive? how much is he asking you for it? where is the car located? what is the gear box doing that makes it shagged?

its really soft changing into 3rd and slipping in drive the auto shop says it needs a rebuild if you leave it in third it drives fine the car is in brisbane
