Unhappy Tranny problems

I have had a scary thing happen the last couple days. the other day I was going down the highway and was going about 60 then i punched it to pass a long line of cars and the motor just reved. It doesn't do that if i press it slowly only when its punch to the floor between 60-65mph? If anyone knows what might be wrong leave me something ASAP!!! (I think the trannys might be going bad from 3rd and 4th gears

I thiink i solve the tranny problem. the only thing i could think of besides a bad tranny was when the throttle is pressed all the way done at 60mph it increases the fuel intake for a sec or 2 so i replaced the fuel filter last night and it stopped reving at 60. i will kepp an eye on it but i hope it's fixed

im getting pissed the car still reved but this time at 80 mph instead of 60 after i changed the fuel filter a little inprovment but i think im gonna take it down the road to get looked at front to back so i dont rev the thing and blow it up

thanks for all the replys. So it is narrowed down to a brake band adjustment or a high clutch is shot

That is pretty much correct. Mostly likely both your high clutch and brake band are shot. Good news is that's the typical failure on these transmission when they are worn out so it should be a straight rebuild with no need for hard parts. I'm sure your brake drum is scored but they can usually be resurfaced.
