Over the weekend I tighten my tranny band adjustment screw 1/2 turn. To do this the starter has to come out. I made up a special nut with a 7mm (.28") square hole to fit on top of the adjusting bolt. The locknut is 17mm. I am not sure if the light load slip went away as I will have to drive it some more to be sure maybe I have to go another 1/4 turn.
In reading Beav's instructions up above, I am not sure about the tightening and lossening 2 turns. That might be what a rebuilder does when the transmission is out of the car. It is impossible to see the adjusting bolt under the fire wall when you got your hand on a wrench down there. The wrench can only move about 30 degs at a time. That is why I used the sqaure hole nut, so I could get a 12 point box wrench on it. It took me a hour and a half to do this. Ah..... and 45 minutes to make the special nut. |
