You would have the option at home of buying an engine heater and having it come on for an hour before going to work. This would help a lot. Naturally you will not have this option for the return trip. If you have not replaced your coolant for a while, I can make a suggestion that may help. Replace the coolant with the correct grade and amount of good quality coolant for your ambient temperature. In addition, buy and add to the mix a bottle of what is commonly called Water Wetter. There are different manufacturer trade names for it. Chemically, it is called a surfactant. It creates a better surface contact between the liquid and the metal surfaces. This has two good effects; it helps the coolant heat up more quickly, which you want; it helps the radiator dump heat from the engine faster, which you want in summer, but not in winter. To deal with the second effect, it is easy for you to blank off a percentage of your radiator with cardboard to reduce the supercooling effect of your outside air. If you have not already done this blanking off trick, you should consider it. NB: 1)Take away the blanking sheet for warmer weather or longer trips. 2) If your radiator fans are coming on a lot, you have too much covered up. Joe No warranty with this advice; if you overheat your engine, it's your problem, I don't know you.

I have considered the O2 sensors, but wouldnt that show up when i checked codes? The first time i removed the O2 sensors, i tried to remove them from the actual exhaust, before i realized i could just unplug them on the other end. I was twisting them with a wrench and prying on them. Is it possible they are installed wrong now? do they need to be orientated in a certain way, rotationaly i mean? thanks

Also, could the O2 sensors be just sort of bad? Or do they just either work, or not work? I was thinking maybe they are worn out and need to be replaced, but not completely broken so that they are throwing codes. ??

I also do have a block heater, and I use it occasionally. I could probably use it at work as well. I'll look into the Water Wetter. I've seen it around.

Good grief. I pulled 12.29 mpg this last tank. New low record just barely beating out last October's 12.42...

Are you sure there aren't any leaks?

Until spring hits or until something obvious breaks I'm chalking it up to cheap sub-zero grade fuel, ice, and a heavy foot. Can't seem to get enough of that midrange growl.

I have the stage1Version4. It's been installed for some time now.
It didn't appear to affect mileage over 1.5 years. If I drop below 12 there is definitely something amiss.

Have you tried replacing your oxygen sensors? I was doing some searching and i found a thread where someone replaced both of them and it cured their bad gas mileage and poor acceleration. I have a strong feeling that the 02 sensors are the cause of my problems.

do they mix ethanol with gas up there like they do here? I noticed a drop in milage when I saw all of these "contains 10% ethanol" stickers on slapped fuel pumps.
