|
Muffler rattle sound
My black 95 has had a muffler rattle since I bought it years ago. Someone told me there is an inexpensive solution for this and the it occurs often.
Anyone know about rather this is common and is it easily fixed.

where is the rattle coming from??
There are heat shields all over the exaust, its most likley one of them, just remove it  Cheers, Jake

If it happens only at specific RPM's go after the heat shields. My ford had two screws come loose and the heat shield rattled like a ***** from 1100-1300 RPM. Either remove them, or screw them back into place.

If it is not the heat shield it will be the centre "Hot Dog" (Oz Name). Just cut it out and put a pice of straight pipe in.

Even if the bolts hang on, the mess that insulates the pipes wears out and eventually you get metal to metal noise.
The only ones I ever leave on are the ones welded to the manifold.
