Friday the 13th didn't hit me, til today

All was kosher in the land of the HighwayUFO, until 6:45 AM. The UFO was on his way to work when, Bam...Whoomp whoomp whoomp tink tink tink tink whoomp tink whoomp.......

I pulled of the side of the road and headed back towards home(thank God I was only a 1/2 mile away).

I get home knowing that my right rear wheel bearing just took a huge dump. And I mean huge. I jacked up my car, removed the wheel and tire, removed the brake caliper and tried to wiggle the rotor loose to open up the hub. Well, I couldn't get the rotor off but in the process I dumped out enough dirt and sand to build a sandcastle. Almost all the bearings were subsequently dumped out in the process of trying to remove the rotor. The bearings were in tiny shreds of their former existence.

The wheel bearing gave out almost all at once. There had been no sound, no tell tale signs at all until I heard the very recognizable roar. It only took at most 3 seconds from the sound of the roar to hearing fragments of the bearings spilling out all over the road after bouncing of my wheel well.

It could be worse as I only spend $90 for the bearing and $190 for labor.

Here I thought that I had beaten the curse of Friday the 13th, but Karma is a b-hatch.
