CART Time Trial

Am going to Lime Rock with Connecticut Autocross and Rally Team (CART) on October 2 for a Time Trial Event. They have classified me F/SP (Street Prepared). Other cars in this class include Mini Cooper non-S, non-turbo Elcipses, Subaru Legacy GT, BMW 318i, etc. Seems I might be underclassified. They are not running a separate SM class, but are putting SM into SP, because of the limited number of participants. But, I'm not complaining, we'll see how it turns out.

Hmmmm... F Street Prepared... Might have to try that class in my next AutoX Since I'm the only SVX at the events and only a couple people know what the car is.

Naw, anyone that knows the rules will know that the SVX belongs in either E Street Prepared (ESP) or F Prepared. F Street Prepared (FSP) is home to MG Midgets and Volvo 244/242s.

Thanks Bill, what else runs in FP? I know that ESP I'll be up against a Camaro that does 70s. Also, do you run the Mychailo Springs/Koni inserts for AtuoX?

I just wanted to point out that Dan said he'd be running in FSP, not FP. In SCCA autocross events, anyway, Prepared and Street Prepared are different sets of classes. I'm not sure what, exactly, this time trial event is, but since he mentioned other classes that are common to autocross, I thought I'd point out the distinction.

Hard to say where the SVXi belongs. The only mention of the SVX in the rules is G Stock, and I'm clearly not stock. I think my 5MT replacement and Delta camshafts make me inelligible for Street Prepared, so maybe it should be Prepared. Looking at the SP classes, it really seems a hodge-podge. In A/SP, you have Dodge Vipers running against Porsche 944 16v. and Fiat Spyder Turbo's. In B/SP, you have Datsun 240Z's running against Corvette ZR-1's. C/SP and D/SP seem pretty uniform and fair. In E/SP, I can see those Camaro's and Firebirds with the V-8's could be pretty overwhelming. But, this is a time trial on the Lime Rock track, not AutoX, so we'll see what happens.

Monday, I'm driving Watkins Glen for the first time in an HPDE event.

I'm trying to get to NASA HPDE Group 3, because there are some driving events that are restricted to HPDE Group 3 and 4 drivers. To do that, I'll need to get in 10 track days, drive on several different tracks and be approved to solo on all of them. I currently have 5 track days and have been approved to solo on the Pocono North Course. I think I have moved up from HPDE 1 to HPDE 2. Will find out Monday. By the end of the year, I will have 7 track days on 3 different tracks. So, next year, HPDE 3.
