OMFG! Now I know why it's been sitting for so long. He wants 1400!!!!!!!! For a car with a blown tranny, a crappy paint job, and 4 dry rotted flat tires. What a friggin joke! Oh well I guess Anyone want to throw down on a parts car?? All I want is a couple little odds and ends and the wheels and engine. Somebody can have the rest if they throw down. Any takers??

Look, he's a trader. He probably wants $1000 for it, or as near that as he can get. He may even be smart and canny enough to be reading this thread.

From your own posts, it looks like you think it might be a bargain at $500. [Now, if it was me, I'd restore it ]

Your best option is to estimate what you think is fair, what you think it is worth to you. These prices should be close together, say $600, $650. Whatever you think. Offer this price. Don't haggle. Leave your number, walk away.

If he wants to deal, he will call you back. If he is willing to let it deteriorate and get older, then you can't do a deal.

BTW, and this is really really important. When you offer the guy the $600 or whatever you think is right, you must be face to face, not on the phone. And you must have the $600 in your hand in notes.

If he doesn't go for that, then forget it. And I mean, forget it. Forever.

Joe

It sounds really high for the condition. How many miles on the engine? Like he said, give him the best offer you can, or good luck in searching for your motor...

Well I kinda know how this guy is due to the fact I was arrested on his car lot twice when I was a kid.(don't ask) and I never have seen a car get sold off his lot when it was across from my house. He had an 87 gold fiero GT forever and I noticed he turned the odometer back on it at one point cause I use to look at it and dream like everyday.(Hey, I was a kid) I don't think I'm gonna mess with him and just hang in there and wait. Something will come along, It always does.
