Question how can we Install cruise control?

Hi all,
I had a doubt, can we install a cruise control into a car which doesn't have it as a stock option? One of my friend is looking at '02 impreza which is not having cruise control. Do you guys think whether it is possible or not? he wants to know how big/expensive the job is? any help is greatly appreciated. My friend is the administrator of ohiosubaru network.

Years ago I had it installed into a Subaru Loyale wagon that didn't come with it. Subaru made a kit to add it to that model. I'd imagine the same is true of the Imp??? I'd call a dealer and find out.

I had a 90 legacy that didn't have cruise. i went to Harry's and got all the parts (throttle thing, computer, and 2 switches) and just plugged them right in. The car is wired (the 90 was) already and it was pretty much just plug and play.

I would say...maybe pull the thing out of the dash where the activator switch goes and see if there are any wires there. That should answer your question as to how hard this is going to be.

The only thing that is going to suck is you have to take the airbag out to put the steering control switch in.

Thanks guys fro your replies. I was able to find a write-up on this for impreza. The author documented really well.

Factory Cruise Control

Yeh it seems not so difficult task

So long as it isn't a drive by wire system you should be able to install either jy parts or an aftermarket kit.
