Jumping the two large terminals on the starter isn't a very safe procedure but as a last resort, after trying the above procedures, you probably have a bad starter.
i may have forgot to mention but i replaced the starter already

I posted my suggestion in the other thread, I think it may well be a grounding issue. Ensure you engine is properly grounded to the chassis, an old battery cable connected between the block and chassis will tell if this is the problem.

i had a problem on a blazer i had that clicked and wouldnt start so i replaced the battery stater and alternator. still no luck it was a fuel pump. waste of cash and lots of hassle and to top it of the pump was in the tank. i have not heard anything on svxes fuel pumps ever gone bad.

This is a common XT6 problem as they age. The cable looks good on the outside but is corroded about a 1/2 inch in. Replacing the cables works. My XT would click and click on end until it would start finally so that could be it too.

my svx would do the same thing for a day or two awhile back. it turned out to be a bad neg. battery cable. while it looked to be in ok condition and the terminals showed no corrosion, the cable was bad about half way in the middle of it. found this out while shaking everything i could touch while someone else continuousely tried to crank it.
