Mazda ain't pure evil

Why so much Mazda hatin? Look on the bright side, if Mazda has good sales or at least press for that matter for the Mazdaspeed6 it might make people take more notoriety in the Legacy 2.5GT which would in might tern boosts its sales. Also perhaps get enough faith in the public towards Japanese companies to produce true luxury performance sedans so Subaru can get the message to start producing in a non-limited edition sense the Legacy STi and sell them in the US this time. Which might be another good reason to hope the Subaru Tribeca sells relatively well.

Maybe then Toyota would finally bring this to the US.

Seriously, most of us on this forum own a car which for some odd reason many closed minded WRX loving Subaru fan boys hate with a passion.

Its at times good to keep an open mind folks.

Just look at who does the flaming of SVXs on other forums. They either express there liking towards the "general" Subaru and the WRX or have a picture of a WRX rallying somewhere in their profile, strange thing.

Now look at the pictures!

Aren't you the least bit curious

Well you can sort of say that it has a symmetrical AWD system.

The engine though is nothing like a Flat4.

WTH are you talking about? who is flaming SVX's? there are quite a few NASIOC members with SVX's, and they always seem to be given respect whenever the subject comes up.

Legacy 3.0R spec B

I'm still holding out for the Legacy 3.0R spec.B car. You get a 3.0 boxer 6 with 10.7 to 1, a 6MT running 3.90 final with a top of 243km. Brother does this sound like somthing we all drive now, except for the 6MT.

Specs

Not coming to the US any time soon but we all can hope.

Steve

I also find the SVX gets decent respect on the other Subaru boards I've been to. The main criticism I hear is the lack of a factory 5MT or turbo...

Steve, that's a nice looking Legacy model... However, I'm itching for a turbo again on my next car.

The SVX is a great all-motor car though and will be hard to top...

I'm still wondering how the 2.5L F-4 Turbo gets 250/250, but the 3.0 F6 NA only gets 250/219. 6's, and NA ones, usually always make more torque than Turbo 4's.

Turbos make all the difference. Unless the engine is a much larger cu, I'm afraid not even two extra cylinders and a .5 cu increase can make up for nice warmed up air going into the combustion chamber to generate a larger burst to help the pistons generate more underlining torque. Of course even with all the advancements with turbos today you still have to wait a bit for the power surge to kick in.

I guess it gives you more admiration towards the engineers who designed the EG33 putting all those goodies from variable valve intake system, using gears rather than a chain and having a bit more cu than the average Subaru motor in order to drive as much of the power from the engine to the ground.

Also, you also have to consider some people or markets rather have grand touring car that has seamless power all away through of a 6 cylinder, even if it doesn't end up generating as much jolt or a mid-power band generated by the turbocharged 4. I guess you can say that Subaru thinks that in Europe there are some people that look upon the Legacy as a cheaper all-season alternative to Mercedes or BMW, which is why I suppose they made the 3.0R package. What I do know is this is the same assumption Subaru had for the American market when they first released the SVX.
