replacing body panel

would it be cheaper to have a body shop repair a dent in my rear left corner panel, or to buy a panel from a parted svx and just replace it? i'm not sure what exactly would be involved with either process. anyone have any info, tips, hints, suggestions? the dent is pretty substantial; judging from the height of it, i'm assuming a sport hostility vehicle swiped my car as it was pulling out from a parallel parking spot (and of course left no note to apologize, etc.).

kmin.

The quarter panels are, just as in any other unibody car, welded in place. Replacing the entire panel would be very expensive. I've looked into it.

There's the panel. So you have to remove everything around it, drill out every spot weld, put a new one in and paint it all.

That's the short version. It'd be a lot of labor.

I have little doubt it'd be cheaper to repair the dent than replace the entire panel. You can't just 'get one out of a parted SVX.

If the dent can be repaired then it will be cheaper...unless the panel needs to come off in which case you may as well put a new one on.

Get an estimate.
