A few 5 spd qustions?

I just got mine running a couple days ago with 5spd, and i have a couple questions.
1. My key is stuck in the igntion, i thought i spliced the right wires but now the key wont come out and the manu light is on, on the dash?

2. I put a high perfromance clutch on it, and the clutch was slipping really bad, it would slip in 2 with any thing more than 1/3 throttle. The clutch seems to be getting better, is this normal( i have only driven the car about 30 miles with the 5spd?

There's a switch/pin you can touch underneath the steering column to release the key. I actually took that part out when I replaced the bolts holding in my ignition switch, figured I'd save a little weight that way

Are you using a cable or hydraulic clutch? If hydraulic, does the pedal seem to be springy at all? If so, maybe the lines have air in them and thus need to be bled. Otherwise, the rod that connects the pedal to the master cylinder could need to be adjusted.

Hope this helps...

Your clutch should not be slipping at all. Is your pressure plate designed to be used with the flywheel you installed? Sounds to me like you are using a pressure plate for a WRX flywheel, but you are using a non-WRX flywheel (or vise versa).

No i am not using a WRX presure plate, the clutch was specificly designed for the trannie, flywheel i am using. The clutch comes with a breakin procedure says to drive around for 400 miles with out flooring it around, maybe it needs tobe broken in, or the flywheel could of maybe have some oil or something on it?

I can't imagine that the clutch disk could initially be so slippery that it would be easy to make it slip.

I guess I'm saying the obvious, but my guess is that one of two things; either the pressure plate is not applying sufficient pressure, or you somehow got some sort of lubricant on one or more of the clutch friction surfaces.

I know you said you thought your cable was adjusted right, but try loosening it a little any way, the cable should have at least a 1/2" of free play in it, if it's taunght, then it's to tight.
It shouldn't slip....if it's getting better, it's because you've worn it down to match the setting of the cable, not good...try adjusting it some more

The Clutch does not slip at all any more, it only sliped a couple of times in the first place, but got progresivly better, maybe there was oil on the flywheel. Yeah i have about .5-.75 inches of pedal free play before it starts pulling on the cable. I floored it in 3 and the clutch did not slip at all . Thanks for all the responces.

Also if the cable was taught and was pushing the through out bearing wouldent it only get worse.
