Question about 2.5L headgaskets
Does anyone know if the turbo engines got better head gaskets? I know there are other issues, particularly with the STi, but I am specifically asking about headgaskets in the lower HP engines found in the WRX and GT/XT cars.

Re: Question about 2.5L headgaskets
Tony, from what ive heard all the 2.5's got bit by the same bug, although there is yet to be one on the current new body styles. Maybe they just last longer now than they used to. Im finding 07 and 08 years with head gasket issues and one I saw with only 83k miles. Why don't you find an EJ22T and put that in.

Re: Question about 2.5L headgaskets
The turbo engines are generally find for head gaskets. It's a completely different block, head, etc. Though, earlier models do have issues with cyl #4 due to improper fueling. It's the last cylinder on the fuel rail and leads to blown pistons (mostly ring lands) as well blowing out head gaskets on occasion. Typically though, they are more reliable from a head gasket point of view than N/A ej25s. If you do get an earlier one, be sure to have the screen on the banjo bolt removed. I personally like the WRX 2.0t engine over any of the AVCS (subaru's VVT system) engines when it comes to reliability.
