Having trouble with Power Mode Mode

I am trying to do the Power mode mod but I must be doing something wrong since I can not make the light come on.

The directions from Nomake Wan are pretty simple, plug a wire into the #4 and connect it to the diagnostic ground, once it lights up POWER mode then figure out where to run a switch.

The 1st surprise I had was that there are 3 wiring harnesses on the TCU. I was expecting only 1. I believe the one that you use is the lowest of the 3 and that the proper pin is the only open one on the locking clip side of the harness. At least that one looked like the picture (from what I could see laying upside down).

Next question is the wire. I was using a 18 gauge solid wire. Should I be using a braided wire like speaker wire? Also is there some trick to keeping it in place on the harness? It didn't feel like it was real secure in there.

My feeling is that I have the right pin, but maybe the wire I am using is the problem. Either it is not right for the job or is too loose in the harness.

Anyways, any help would be appreciated.
