I just ran the cars VIN for you. 2005 chevrolet monte carlo right? Everything checks out clean and Carfax says it has only had 1 owner. This is all that it says.

I wouldn't say it checks out fine. What I'm reading from my auction years is that it was leased commerically. Could be a corp. or could be a rental company. I'd hope the price is adjusted properly. I'd be leary to some extent but not much more than I would for an average personal leased vehicle.

Thanks a lot on that, They want 17000. for it, it is a 3.8 supercharge and the body is straight. I am going to test drive it in the AM so hope all goes good. Another one to my collection of cars.

Don't know values on newer GMs but if I were to guess from what couple year old American iron was selling for back when I worked at Manheim 17000 is giving them a pretty penny. I'd suspect it sold at auction for about 11-12ish. Just be on the look out for weird wear patterns, a loose seat (from being adjusted a lot), repainted bumpers and overly scuffed rims.

Could you check this one for me? Since SVXs are no longer made, how about the VIN for this inferior equivalent:
2000 Porsche 996 AWD:
WP0CA2993YS650450
For sale cheap, very suspicous...

Not much different that a personal leased car though. Biggest problem with 'em is the lack of a decent break in but you'll have that with 90% of the used car market.
