SVX stolen....looking for advice

My SVX was stolen this morning. Keys included. Started the car, realized I forgot my lunch so I ran inside to put my lunch together. Litterally less than 2 minutes later I came out and my car was gone. Allready changed the locks on the house, filed a police report and contacted the insurance company.

Did I miss anything? Any other suggestions?

That's terrible! I can't imagine someone would steal it right out of your driveway!
Sounds to me like you've done everything you should have.
I sure hope you get it back soon.

Unhappy Oh. My. Gosh.

I'm wondering how many times I've done similar things just this month. The only good thing I can see about this situation, is that the car is so unusual that it should be fairly easy to spot. Make darn sure that they are looking for split side windows and backward running wheels.
I wish I had words of comfort, but for now words fail me.
All the best.

I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

My prayers are with you, and your 5psd SVX.....Get the word out to EVERYONE you know, watch ebay as well, ther is a story somewhat like this on surpaforums where someone stole a car, and he began to part it out on ebay, thats how they traced the car.

Yeah, that should HOPEFULLY be easy to spot... the only downside is that I'm sure the police won't give a rats ass. Tell ALL of your friends and relatives to look for it, MAYBE you'll get a lead. That really really sucks man. Out of your own driveway... man, I'd rent a porsche and leave it in the driveway and hide in teh bushes with a shotgun.

Hell of way to start the day. Did you have any credit cards (gas cards, etc.) stashed somewhere in the car? Cancel them if you did.

I though Oregon was friendlier than that.

If anyone lists a 5-speed manual from an SVX on eBay, you've got your man!

What is the colour? And the VIN of the car. Just so that we can all watch out for it. It would be kind of hard to part out the SVX since there are so few around and we'd know if anyone is parting out. SVX will not get them as much as ... let's say honda on the stolen car market anyways. Perhaps the morons thought it is a Ferrari or something.

Good luck

They wouldnt be able to parrt that car out anywhere in the world without us finding out about it. That car is worthless to them. I hope they catch the people.

VIN definately!

Definately put the VIN up on here. Most of the major panels on the SVX have the VIN on them, so who knows maybe we'll get lucky and nail the mofo!

I am so sorry to hear that news! I wish you the best of luck in finding the culprit(s). I hope your insurance company does not back out of financial responsibility based on the fact that you left the car running and unlocked. I cannot remember how many times I've done that myself on a cold morning to let the car warm up. It's frightening to think that could happen (depending on the type of area you live in).

Best of luck with the whole deal. Wish there was something I could do to help

I am so sorry to hear that!

This has been happening a lot up here, so much so that this morning on the news they announced that in Tacoma, WA, the police are now driving around in the mornings and if they see an unattended car running in a driveway they will go knock on the door and give a warning - it is now ILLEGAL in that city to leave your car running unattended. Apparently theives have a heyday this time of year just driving around neighborhoods looking for people warming their cars on cold mornings. The number stolen in that city alone by this method was staggering, I forget exactly but it was in the 100's.

I know your case was a little different, this was a one time deal for you and that makes it all the sadder that it happened to be the day someone was out there to take advantage of it. Definitely keep us all posted on the situation, we in the Northwest will keep an extra special eye out for things.

How horrible, I'm sorry.

Creepy when it's stolen from where you live.
