Re: Getting ready for Sandy

That's how they create ratings!! I can look at the maps too. Our area will get about 5-6 inches of rain and some wind over the next few days.
Most of the problems will be north/east of us this time.
The jet stream could bring us some snow later.

Lavale, Md Wal-mart sold out of water today.
Most of my 'prepping' was crap I needed to do anyway.

Sunoco 93 octane was $386.9!
I'm filling up!
I always try to have way too much canned goods, paper products, survival stuff on hand anyway, because you never know when a hoard of young people will show up,

Sweetie-pie keeps the shelves stocked. We're good for a month or two that way.

I had the same attitude before the aforementioned snowstorm: "Blizzard conditions," in Georgia? Yeah, right.

Never seen so much bleepin' snow from a single event in my life, and I spent 3 winters in Vermont.

I charged my camera batteries for Saturday's wedding in case I lose electricity. We also stocked up on food and moved our cars out of the way of the tree we think may fall. SVX is kinda sitting in harms way since it can't move. But very close to getting it to start!

Georgia is one place you dont expect those conditions, but I lived most of my life in Northern North Dakota, a stones throw from Canada and we were used to those every few weeks.

I heard the western mountains of Maryland and West Virginia may get slammed with 2-4 feet of SNOW! Tom, you may want to move my car to the airport, if you havent done already.

Tow it!
The SVX has four GREAT places to attach a tow rope/tow chain.

Ok.
At The Airport there are no trees to blow down.

Re: Getting ready for Sandy

Well, we just lost electrical power for the first time during this storm.
It was for less than a minute.
Winds are gusting at, I'm guessing 40 mph...
sigh...

Re: Getting ready for Sandy

Well pretty much gone. About 30 or 40% of the people in Conn lost power. The Conn. shore got hit the hardest. The RI border is almost entirely with out power. Only one death, a woman walking with friends had a tree fall on her. We had wind in excess of 50Mph and gusts over 60 to 70MPH. Very scary. Our lights blinked bad we got a short brown out. Prayers go out to those less fortunate .

Yes your SVX is parked all alone away from everything at the airport.
Its 42°f outside with current winds of 21 mph.

Re: Getting ready for Sandy

Just went out and picked the neighbor's garage roof pieces off the alley and my back yard. We escaped unharmed so far. No snow yet.
