Quick questions

A couple of really basic questions:

Is the little pocket / pouch thingy in the left hand side of the boot for spare wheel tools, etc? My spare wheel / tyre is also the original and never been touched - would it be unwise to use this tyre after 20 years? Still looks in perfect condition.

How do you open the fuse panel near the driver's kick panel? Seems tight and I don't want to break it.

Cheers,
Grant

Re: Quick questions

I think the pocket thingy was for a cd stacker

I believe the fuse panel pulls open

The spare wheel will be fine no weight on it and out of the elements

I, personally, wouldn't use the spare. I took the spare out of my blue car, and the one in the trunk of my black car is only there to hold up the floor panel of the trunk. I have a stack of stock rims with tires in my garage if I ever need a spare.

If you look at the fuse panel well enough (most people aren't inclined to get very close to it, being as low and tucked under there as it is), you'll see that there's a little lever you press to unclip it and then it opens easily.

Re: Quick questions

Thanks. The driver's side footwell fuse box comes off by pulling it out from the bottom of the cover.

Does anyone know if you can get clear side indicators (instead of the amber colour)?

Re: Quick questions

Yeh, the ones on the side guards are what I meant. I just had a look on Subaru SVX Images and a lot of the US SVXs don't have any side indicators at all - makes the lines look smoother. Haven't come across any clear lenses though ......

Wouldn't mind swapping the rear middle light panel from a US car either - the two reversing lights look better being closer together than the Oz spec cars (in my opinion only of course).

Loving my SVX!

Re: Quick questions

Just found a pic of what one looks like with a clear lense:

And heaps with no side lense (and the nicer rear middle light panel):

That's not a clear lens, that's a black-and-white photo.

The US SVXes don't have them.

You could get a little marker light from almost any car really and it ought to work, really simple to wire up, you just gotta make a hole for it in the fender. My wife's lancer I noticed the little fender marker is clear and pretty close to the right size, maybe a little on the big side. There are probably generic ones too.

Re: Quick questions

for clear guard blinkers i just used GC8 wrx items and sanded the sides down until lthey were a snug fit. i used the original svx bulb holders in the new housing and fitted orange bulbs. worked a charm.
