number

My SVX has a manufacture date of 09/91. Is there a way to find out what number it is?

Cheers,
Adam

Re: number

I think it's the last four numbers of the VIN. I'm not 100% sure, but that's what I remember hearing.

The model year is 92. Ever notice the next years model coming out late in the year? Many 2013 model year cars will be built in 2012. This isn't a new thing.

Re: number

I did assume that, my 87 f150 was stamped 87, I didnt know if they fore dated the plates, or if they used the year of manufacture, to me it seems stupid to run a system like that, does that mean you should always add a year to the door plate? when searching for parts?

Re: number

My VIN is: JF1CX3437NH105485

If its the last 4 mine would have been 5485.
Did not think that many was made in 1991.

Cheers,
Adam

There were over 9000 made for the NA market for the 92MY. Production was plentiful at the start as they ramped up for the car selling. However, the sales quickly fell on their face and Subaru basically couldn't beg people enough to purchase them.

I believe there were roughly 6,000 SVXs (US market) made for the '92 model year, with many of them made in '91. My '92 was also made in 9/91 and my VIN ends with 5650.

Re: number

Now if that is ture I now must wonder where the other 5k are? Are they rusting in a junk yard, still running, or just forgotten somewhere?

Re: number

Oops, I was wrong. It looks like there was 8,738 '92 SVXs made for the US.
Check out the "US and Canadian Summary by Year" chart in the SVX registration forum.

Re: number

If your #,s are correct than most SXV were made in 92, We know 93 was a short year and also 97.. that means 94 ,95 ,96 total only another 6,000 or so . ( My calculator is not handy ) of that some were 2 wheel drive. If we go by % there are more 92 left than the rest even considering age and road hazards.
