16 cars to buy now in Sports and Exotic Mag

and the SVX is the cheapest of the 16, which includes the MX3. Don't get me wrong the MX3 is a great car with a sweet v6 but the average selling price of the MX3 is 2500, the SVX, 2100.

And a lot smaller car to boot. Friend has a real nice one . Poured a ton of $ into it last year. Has less than 30,000 miles on it.

SVX in Sports and Exotic Magazine March 2012

On Page 27 the SVX is listed (with photo and "average selling price" of $2,100) in an article, titled, "16 to Buy in 2012". As the article says, these are "SLEEPERS" in the car collector world. Nice to see the SVX "listed" as a potential collectable, even though the price quoted is ROCK BOTTOM! And NOT realistic, in my opinion!
But check it out!!

Harry

PS: I would attach a photo, but can't figure out how to get my scan to the 1 MB limit ......

Re: SVX in Sports and Exotic Magazine March 2012

I would think $2,100.00 is about right. I bought my '92 Claret for $400, my '92 Ebony for $750 and my '97 Bordeaux for $1,000.
From watching a lot of Ebay sales, the prices never seem to be very high. I have noticed a slight increase though and would have to agree they are "sleeper" collector cars. That's why I bought my '97. There were only 41 sold in Canada I believe.

Ben,
If anyone was going to see this before me, I would bet on you! Good scoop.

How's the TVR these days? I bet much improved!

Let me hear from you!

Re: 16 cars to buy now in Sports and Exotic Mag

I noticed they did not mention the Viper. They made 26,000 in. 18 years. Takes 2 days to make one
They stopped because. They do not have Traction control.

I have only seen 4 on the. Road.
Is there a list of the rest of the cars?
Prowler or the Delorian on the list?

Re: 16 cars to buy now in Sports and Exotic Mag

i didn't know vipers were so rare. used to be common sight around here (in the 90's). someone at my high school actually drove one and everyone cringed as he dragged the front bumper then the back over the speed bumps twice a day.

I think they were looking only at the "bargain" buys. the following cars were listed, in order, with average selling price:
1990 - 1996 Infiniti Q45 ($$4,000)
1971 - 1981 Mercedes SL ($10,000)
1968 - 1973 Opel GT ($8,000)
1956 - 1967 Hillman Minx ($6,500)
1992 - 1997 Subaru SVX ($2,100)
1999 Saab 9-3 Viggen ($5,500)
1956 - 1967 Renault Dauphine ($5,000)
1980 - 1993 Ferrari Mondial ($18,000)
1989 - 1991 Peugeot 405 Mi16 ($2,700)
1995 Volvo 850 T-5R ($4,500)
1992 - 1994 Mazda MX-3 GS ($2,500)
1959 - 1968 Sunbeam Alpine ($17,000)
1957 - 1970 Lancia Flaminia Berlina ($20,000)
1987 - 1988 Porsche 944S ($5,000)
1987 - 1973 Fiat Dino Coupe )$20,000)
1975 - 1981 Triumph TR7 ($5,500)

I agree with most of these as being a "good investment", but there are a few I would have thought would have been on the list also .......

Yeah there are ones one there too that I would nix based on a bargin criteria like the Opel GT. 5 years ago they were trading for a tenth of the price they seem to be trading for now. Now that would have been the time to get one.

TVR is away for salt season Harry. I have managed to finish replacing all the bushes with poly bushes and am now running a 500lbs spring up front so its getting more and more sorted every year. Over the winter the clutch needs to get replaced and the bumpers will come off and get professionally refinished. Still trying to fit in the time to come down for an autox.

1965 Sunbeam Alpine just sold for $70,000 . They said 5 years ago they were $15,000. May be hope for the SVX
