Brake upgrade inside: PORSCHE 911 content

hey guys, thought id share this little side project in here,
my svx has terrible brakes ( after coming out of both my brembo braked cars) so went about trying to fit brembo's, but they dont fit directly. that made me think, why make $1200 calipers fit when i can make $600 porsche brembo's fit?

so ive picked up some GR sti rotors , and porsche 911 brembo claipers for the front, and boxter rears , they are both 4 pot calipers, but the 911 caliper pistons are 33mm and 41mm, while the rears are 20mm. still waiting on the fronts to be shipped, but started mocking up the rear today. the radial mount brackets should be easy to make up, using square steel stock machined up to suit. they easily clear GR sti wheels, so fingers crossed they will clear evo /gd sti wheels for track use.

once completed , svx is oing to be super sprinted with the wrx club in the NA class.

pics :

ill update the thread as things progress.

Re: Brake upgrade inside: PORSCHE 911 content

i was going to use the boster calipers for the front but the rotor opening is only 25mm, the rotors im using are 32mm, the 911 calipers i got will accept up to a 35mm rotor so all good. the boxster calipers will be going onto the front of my mates legacy RS

I too am watching this with interest.

Do you have Forrester wheels on your SVX? Are they a good fit? Photos?

Cheers mate.

Forester wheels are the 100x5 bolt pattern and won't fit the SVX....may be Tribeca wheels...

Re: Brake upgrade inside: PORSCHE 911 content

recieved my 911 calipers today, the 911 rotors are actually 318mm x28mm which is 8mm smaller dia and 2mm thinner than the sti rotors i was going to use ARRGGGHHH. so now i need to either reduce the OD of the sti rotor or try using tribecca discs, which im still trying to find. machining them down will be the best way to go i think. pics coming soon.

Re: Brake upgrade inside: PORSCHE 911 content

why can't you mount the 911 calipers as far out as you need to to work on the STi rotors?

there isnt physically enough room inside the caliper, as they are designed for a smaller diameter rotor, hopefully ill have my hands on a set of tribecca rotors in the next week or so

Re: Brake upgrade inside: PORSCHE 911 content

Rethought my post.

Brembo atleast used to sell blank rotors where you could drill it for whatever bolt pattern you needed. Also there is a huge variety of rotors out there in 5X114.3, so again might cough up some cheap rotors off a Nissan or EVO.

Someone here has already gone thru an extensive search for rotors. They weren't for porsche calipers but their results may be of assistance to you. I think they may have been for STI brakes, try searching or wait for someone to chime in.

Found it
