i wasn't defending the hijacker - it was just that your one post there sounded like it came out of Philosophy 101.

i would like to get back to pics and stories of Subarus in the snow.

Re: Great deal on snow tires!

Would you buy snow tires that "made in China"?

Of course it's cheaper.
Perhaps better than recap lol.

Still has any offer on this?

Re: Great deal on snow tires!

the first winter i had my svx, it had the tires that came on the car when i bought it (probably all season ones). the front ones had about 70% tread left, the back had about 4% left. they were basically illegal to drive on. yet, i still was able to drive through the storm of 2010. it wasn't fun, but my little car pulled through. :]

i also tried doing donuts in torrential rain with those bald back tires, but i could not lose control of my car for the life of me. my tires wouldn't even freaking squeal. i gave up.

Re: Great deal on snow tires!

Yesterday morning I was driving into work in an "ice fog". The fog was depositing on everything including my radio antenna which "crunched" off the layer of ice when it went down after I turned off the car. As I drove over a bridge the car went straight instead of turning because a nice thin sheet of ice had formed on the surface. I got the car back under control in time. When I got to work, I immediately called to make an appointment to get the new Blizzaks mounted and put on the car. It isn't the snow that's the big problem. It is ice and snow that is packed down to make an ice layer. No all-season tire will get traction on ice like Blizzaks will. Only studded tires are as good on ice but that is a personal preference. I don't like them but some people swear by them.

For most practical purposes the blizzak ws-60 are even better then studded tires, The studs do work better in some situations though.
