Re: Bad Accident

Glad you are ok!!! And that you're keeping the SVX. I'm actually impressed there isn't more damage from all the flipping... simply amazing.

Re: Bad Accident

wow... ouch to the SVX. I've had a few scary experiences almost falling asleep when I was younger and driving long distances when I was too tired. Never a good thing. Glad you and everyone else is ok... just poor poor SVX

Re: Bad Accident

This question goes out to the logical, common sense person and the insane SVX fanatic passionates.

Would you spend $6500 to repair your SVX to get her back to where you had it before (Or even better shape)? *sigh*

Mind you, this has the 4.44 tranny and aftermarket cams Chike installed, custom exhaust from header back, perfect tranny with a level 10 valve body (Hydrosystem), aftermarket pulley, ToMyx intake (original). No tears or rips in interior (Was still in perfect condition). Dash good...everything was 100% and working (AC, etc). No issues! It is definitely totalled though. I do not see any SVX's around my neck of the woods anymore.

For my first SVX, I would definitely do it. Any of the others I own, and I would probably find another. I'm impartial to my first. I would never sell it other than for a ridiculous price and would be willing to do anything to fix it up. But then again, I'm a bit crazy...

Kevin, glad to hear that you are ok.
Poor car! I hope that you can find a way to fix it up.
I think I would do it for Penny, seeing as how I've already sunk tons of money into her. But then again, I'm a bit nuts myself!

I personally wouldn't think twice about spending $6500.00 to make it perfect once again....heck I've spent more than that this year on my car....so far(fingers crossed).

I fully intend to spend that much or more to restore my car to showroom (or better) condition once I'm finished school.

Argh. As much as I hate to say it, I'd probably move on Kevin. FWIW, I might take the insurance money, buy back the SVX and then look for a nice SVX and swap over many of the custom upgrades on the damaged car to the new one.

She's had a good life and at least we can say her final two owners loved her tremendously!

That's a tough call. First, it would be hard to find an SVX that didn't need paint, at a cost of what, 4000?.

If that was possible, it would take some work to transfer the interior, exhaust, engine trans, etc. OR, you could fix this car, everything you want is there.

It's a Tough call, build an SVX or move on entirely

Re: Bad Accident

I had decided to keep it. Then yesterday I went to look at it again after the shop did a more thorough assessment of the damage. It's bad! Worse than I thought! In a nut shell, it's a wrap!

So, I may be taking the interior out and the intake itself to sell off. As for the rest of the car, I'm done with it. The engine still ran when I checked it out when I took the pics of it. It is just too much damage (Ex: Driver's side roof buckled in a little, passenger side front wheel well...u can reach into the passenger side interior from, etc).

It's been a great experience all these years, owning an SVX and being part of the community. I was thrilled to have such a beautiful car that was trouble free for most of the time I had it and 0 issues until the end. Time to get my Outback back on the road now.......It's been in the garage for years with one minor electrical problem (Speed sensor check engine light).
