Smile New To SVX WORLD NETWORK !

Hello, i'm new to SVX WORLD NETWORK, my name is Pierre-Olivier, 20 years old and i'm from Hyères in South France, i am very interested in a clean Subaru SVX '94 approved in France, it has 130 000km, this is a low mileage for a car over 15 years, but unfortunately the steering rack is to change...

What do you think?

Cheers!
Pierre-Olivier.

Welcome to our family

Make sure you don't just need a new O-Ring in the Power Steering Pump before you replace the rack....

And Welcome to the Site!

Huck makes a good point.
Also check the high pressure hose at the back of the engine on the right side of the car, as well as the three low pressure power steering lines also on the right side of the engine bay.

And if you fix the front wheels so they are not backwards, it may help.

I found a steering rack, but impossible to deliver in Europe, only shiping to U.S.A : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/92-97...Q5fAccessories

Pierre, good thing this guy doesn't ship to Europe. dans_carpart is a scammer, he tricked a lot of people on this forum. Hold your horses man, I suggest you only deal with someone on this forum for parts. If you want ebay, at least ask us first about the seller so that we can guide you.

Have you checked what Huck mentioned previously in this thread?

Re: New To SVX WORLD NETWORK !

Bienvenue Pierre-Olivier.

Listen carefully to what the guys are advising here. You don't want to spend money needlessly.

First and foremost, there are two different steering racks for the SVX. The lesser model is engine revolutions operated, the better one has variable power assistance, depending on road speed. It is probably 90% certain that yours uses the latter speed sensitive type, so please don't just buy any steering rack on eBay until you are certain which type is for sale. They are not interchangeable.

The next point, it would be good if you could describe what is wrong with your present steering rack. How exactly is it faulty? Is it leaking? Is it making strange noises? Is there free play in the steering arms? Are the rubber boots damaged?

If you can give a good description what is the matter with the steering rack, there is a possibility somebody here can advise you how to fix it. Having to replace the steering rack in an SVX is a rare thing.

Also read up on the things to check when buying an SVX:

http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/files/How-To/19523.doc

All of the information documents on here are in English, I'm afraid.

And if you want to know what I think of your car?.........

Joe

Re: New To SVX WORLD NETWORK !

The price of steering rack in France is 600.00€ ( 840,903US $) , very crazy price !

Vive la France !
