Re: Got my car back, not too happy

These people will not do ever do this job correctly. Quality people would never have botched up the job like they did.
They are simply not capable of quality repair.

Sorry,
Keith

Well actually, yes and no. It appears that someone at some point really F-ed up this car. I told them all the issues and it is actually finally back in the shop as of yesterday to get the door completely repainted. As far as the clips being wrong/missing, they said that there weren't even any there to start. The trim piece under the door already had a couple screws in apparently and they just put in a few extra to hold it better. The back bumper is like that because where it bolts in, almost all of the holes are stripped- There were only the bolts on each side right after the wheel well and they were able to get only one other one to hold. They did go and order the actual clips that are supposed to go in and will be painting them to match. The little bit of overspray was able to be buffed off the day I originally had them look at it as well as the marks on the wheel.

This car does have previous accident history on it but it couldn't have been bad as it was 3 years from the accident to when it got repaired and also switched owners in that time. But apparently someone reallly messed up this car, at least as far as these matters...

Re: Got my car back, not too happy

Oh yeah, when I took it back to the body shop, a mechanic from the dealership was walking by and asked what year it was, a 94? I'm like, no. Its a 92 which was the only year for the Silver in the US. He then tried telling me they came with twin turbos in Japan Had to do quite a job of convincing him he was wrong and that every single SVX sold everywhere got the exact(just about) same engine.

Re: Got my car back, not too happy

I had a nightmare like this when I had my car fixed at the dealership I worked at. They did poor prep work the first time they painted the right fender and every year the paint cracks and splits in exactly the same spot. After two summers, the split is so big you can pick the paint off with a fingernail. I contacted PPG, who supplies the body shop with the paint, and they told me they would make it right, when the dealership was reluctant to have to fixed it for me under their "lifetime" warranty. They have repainted it twice so far. It's already cracking again, so I think I'll have them do it again this fall. Body shops in general just seem to suck at life. You should see the one at the dealership I work at now, they leave stuff loose and disconnected, AND the body work is horrible!

Yeah, its a shame. I really wanted to go to a local guy which would have actually totalled the vehicle and the damn adjuster pretty much made me go through this dealership. The good side is that it saved me time from having to repair the door rust and the quarter panel rust on that side
