Best "Drop In" Replacement Disc/Pads?
Thoughts and Links to the best "Drop in" replacements. I would like to hear from people who have them, and respond to their thoughts on how they feel, etc.
Only one request, i do NOT want Cross-Drilled Roters, I like Slotted, Dimpled, or both. Your Thoughts Requested

Re: Best "Drop In" Replacement Disc/Pads?
+1 for SVXFiles' kit. My only addition would be to go with Hawk pads once you're done with the original pads if you autoX your car. Note: the Hawk pads will not work with brand new dimpled/slotted rotors, as they are too thick by ~1/16 of an inch per pad.

Re: Best "Drop In" Replacement Disc/Pads?
Honestly, I am going for More responce from the brakes in the 96, and something that looks better with these rims. I would also take the time to paint the Calipers as well, but I want a subtle color, maybe a gray.
But, Functionaly is my goal, and looking at SVXFiles' Kit, nicely priced with everything for front and rear...... looking mighty tempting

Re: Best "Drop In" Replacement Disc/Pads?
don't seccond guess it even once. The "zzzzzzezezezezwzwzwzw" noise when you brake is worth at least half the money the kit costs. The firm pedal and lack of fade just seal the deal

Re: Best "Drop In" Replacement Disc/Pads?
I'd have to recommend svxfiles brake kit.
Dimpled, plated, slotted rotors, stainless steel lines, and ceramic pads, front and rear for only $375.00 USD plus shipping is cheaper than just rotors from Autozone!

Re: Best "Drop In" Replacement Disc/Pads?
Anyone have an issue of the rotor seating a little wrong. One of my rears is grinding that little lip that is just around the ebrake mounting. I know there's the resess in the rotor for it but the one is grinding into the metal in the resess. Driving me nuts cause after I get off the highway it starts throwing grinding noises at me. The pads are still good but the outer pad is a little more worn than the inner one. I may switch either the pads or the rotors from side to side and see if it's somehow the combination. I may have put the rotors on the wrong side but still.

As they rust theu seem to swell, being pushed out by the degrading metal. As they do this, they can push into the rear rotors just like you described. As I remember svxcess (John Hoffman) had an issue with this a few years back, and we ground doen the offending material. I just had to do this the other day, but I have no recollection of who's it was. We've been REAL busy lately....................

Re: Best "Drop In" Replacement Disc/Pads?
I think I'm gonna start savin money for this, since my SVX is going to need brakes in probably the next year or so.... also needs some lowering springs and some wheels that show off the brakes better
