Re: Shadow Machine Update

At Reading, everyone was calling the intake manifold on young Tom's car , "the spider." He went around reminding everyone that spiders have 8 legs not six. This intrigued me, so I searched for a 6-legged creature. Lo & behold up popped pubic lice. So Tom's SVX has one big 'crab' sitting over the engine. I think he should change the name of his car from "Shadow SVX" to the "Crab Nebula SVX."

Well I called it a spider with a missing leg since it had 7 total. I figure the way Tom drives, it probably lost the 8th leg while exploring a bush or some near by river.

this is also true.. and symbolic of the blood/$$ that gets sucked out of its owner when modifying an svx. hehe

Particulars....

2.5" total plenum height. 2" legs with individual velocity stacks built into the plenum for each runner... Yes similar to the aircraft manifold from a while back. The cieling of the plenum has a V formation to attempt at even distribution of discharge to the outter edges to be dropped into the velocity stacks. I had all my flanges water-jet and all welds are tigged. I build it from scratch and it took a while to do. But thus far, I am very impressed with the low end power it has picked up and it seems to be stretching the legs of the top end as well, but that could be because I haven't driven the car in so long.

Have you looked at the pictures?

Edit: I guess no one posted pics of it with the hood closed in this thread.

Re: Shadow Machine Update

Been shopping around for a Hydramist water/methanol injection system. Hopefully will pick it up in a couple weeks. Once I have it installed I plan on heading off to get a good tune on it. For those curious as to why I haven't had it on the dyno yet... I had a bit of an incident with the ABS pump hemorrhaging when I needed to do some quick braking... Needless to say the brakes didn't work too well and made an ouchy of my front end a little. I am picking up some parts to fix it this week. Hopefully I will be able to hit the dyno before the month is out...

I did finally get my IAT sensor wired into my Hydra to find out what kind of intake temps were looking like...Well no surprise to me the temps are well over 250*F. Hence my interest in a water injection system. Hopefully I can get some more timing out of it with a good bit of injection

Re: Shadow Machine Update

Well I lost out on the Hydramist kit I had my eye on on Ebay. So I went ahead and purchased a new AEM water injection kit. Comes with a 1 gallon tank, remote pump, and three sized jets. I will likely start out with the medium jet and see if it is worth it to run the bigger one... Test run tomorrow and then hopefully dyno tune shortly after. All I have left to do is run a trigger to the Hydra to switch automatically to the aux timing map whenever the system is engaged. I wired the arming switch up to the stock mirror heater switch to keep it clean, indicator light still works too. More later pics below during the install.

Side note: Finally used the L model brake lines and master cylinder I have had for 2 years and ditched the ABS that had caused my accident.

Re: Shadow Machine Update

Right now it is in the plastic intake. I will eventually need a second small jet to tap the dual intake. You cannot put it in the manifold or else under vacuum it would suck all the methanol into the engine at idle

Re: Shadow Machine Update

Is that something that is particular to the AEM set up? My Coolingmist set up wouldn't be affected like that if I tapped the manifold....

Re: Shadow Machine Update

yes it would unless you have a solenoid fitted between the jet and the tank somewhere which would only open under boost.

Tom
I am almost 100% sure that I can tap the manifold and run lines to it with no modifications to the Coolingmist set up. I discussed this at length with someone at Coolingmist as well as talking with two Mustand guys that run Coolingmist setups in conjunction with screw type blowers....
