SVX Net Official Membership

I have decided to have my SVX classified as a collector car in New Jersey, so that I can put it in semi-retirement status. Under this category, my bi-annual inspection will be more limited in scope, and my insurance premium will be significantly reduced. The major limitation will be driving it no more than 3000 miles during the course of the year. Since I'm buying a Legacy or Outback station wagon to be my daily driver and tow vehicle, that's no problem.

My insurance agency suggested that I should have a club membership to back up the collector status of the car. I was wondering if we could have an official SVX-net membership status with a certificate? Maybe as a benefit for being a contributing member?

With the agreement of the Moderators or the site administrator, I could put together such a certificate. It would need appropriate signatures from the right folks. I could use the official logo, etc. Do I have permission? Anyone else need a certificate to get bona fide?

ditto. Everyone here says the svx is a collector's car...why not actually MAKE it a collector's car?

I have an FF1 Subaru insured under the same arrangement and car club membership is a prerequisite, so that I know exactly where you are coming from.

Membership here should qualify and I see no reason why this can not be confirmed. Possibly copying a section of the membership list may suffice. Check with the insurance company, after all it validates your serious interest in the SVX as a collectors item, which is what they require.

I will work on this and let you know what we can come up with. If you have a couple ideas of what a membership certificate looks like, email it to me. I will work on this project with someone who has done wonders in this area.

Most of the work is done. There is already an SVX World network logo. It just needs to say that Daniel H. Nall is a member in good standing for the year 2008, has been a member since 2004 or whatever. Signed by the Grand Poobah and counter-signed by the Vizier in Chief. Maybe some language about Subaru SVX world network, dedicated to preservation and appreciation of Subaru's unique all wheel drive sports car, produced between 1991 and 1997 with only ??? examples produced worldwide.

This could be a continuing fund-raising vehicle. Charge $25 for annual memberhsip and a new certificate, but still allow access to the website for all. Only those who had use for the certificate would pay the fee.

I will put together a mock-up tonite. What are the names that I should put on the certificate as officers of the organization. I know that might get a little bit touchy, as SVX World network is not a legal entity, but maybe there are some wishy washy titles we can use, such as Founder, or Chief Administrator or something that would not entail any conceivable legal responsibility beyond that already incurred by the operation of the website.

This is not only a great idea but is probably a must for certification under the classic/collector regulations of the national automobile insurance underwriters association. I would venture a guess that they require some form of paid membership, unless the marque maintains a national/international registry on behalf of its members (such as the Rolls-Royce owners association). This group could provide three types of membership; interest, owner, collector. We could come up with specific names for these, but they would indicate whether or not the member is: (1) a person with an interest in the SVX, perhaps a potential owner; (2) a person who owns one or more SVXs, either as regular drivers or for other purposes; and (3) a person who owns one or more SVXs for the purpose of exhibit and/or investment potential. I would suggest the first two categories include free membership, but the third must require some per-car fee and a registry. In other words, membership would result in both the owner and the car being listed in a national registry. The registry should be a record-keeping branch that maintains an annual report on each registered vehicle, along with the annual fee. I would propose that the registry charge an initial registration fee with annual membership fees. If the SVX is ever to have lasting value as a collectible, NOW is the time to get this, or some other system off the ground. Again, great idea.

I agree and once I get my Impreza back form the shop I really want to reduce the milage I put on my SVX. I got it from my Brother and Sister-in-law in April and I'v already but 13k on it. But for the sake of not having to stop driving the car altogether I"d drive it only 3k a year. I'll have to check what NH had for these catagories. Insurance for me right now is around $1500 a year and the gas isn't helping either. I might reduce driving it to only meets and just to keep it running. Is there any clasification for "low" original miles? 86K here on my 94 LSi.( I know it's low on average but I'm talking on a non-SVX classing.)

Careful, few people around here might take that personally.

The network IS incorporated, we have a constitution, a mission statement, a board, officers, we have meetings.

Though I'm not sure how many officers we have at the moment. Whats the latest number here? eleventy hundred?

Theres a lot of officers, take a look around, anyone who's name is in green is an officer. Red is an admin.

Spunds like a good idea.

Dan, keep us updated. I will do the same for my Claret, as it only gets driven sparingly.

What classifies it as a "collector Car"? Must be at least 15yrs old?

Aren't the 92s and 93s 15 years old? If we collect it, it is a collectors car.

This is one of the ways it can become a collectors car, by starting to do this. We are trying to preserve it, and are dedicated to its existence. If there is a following, it can become one.

I would suggest that the registry keep the mileage information as well. The miles on the clock at the first of each year.

I would also say that there needs to be some fee with any of these to cover postage and printing of the certificates.

Since my title says I do things like this, I'll go ahead and make some official looking certificates printed on watermarked cotton paper.

Some thing like
