how to trouble shoot my power steering
ok, my powersteering light is on, and i have no power steering. how can i pull the codes?
also my trouble shooting ended with checking for fluid in the system, there was plenty, and no leaks that i could see.

Have you checked what is available in the How-To section?
Here? There is only a diagnosis system for electronically controlled power steering. If your car has the engine speed type, it can't be read by the OBD1 If yours HAS Electronic steering, here's how to go about checking it: Before checking codes: Ensure battery voltage is OK. Check fuses 8 and 15 in Fuseboard, and 25 in Main board Then, if those are OK: Go to the plugs in the footwell. You will be plugging the diagnostic connectors into plug B36, the one with ten terminals. The terminals read as follows, looking into the plug with the retainer clicker top centre: 1,2,3,4 5,6,7,8,9,10. To read Memory: Turn ignition OFF Connect male terminal to terminal 6 Start engine Read code/s Turn ignition OFF Disconnect the male connector. To read Check aka D-Test: Turn ignition OFF Connect male terminal to terminal 5 Start engine Drive at least 10 metres Read code/s Turn ignition OFF Disconnect male connector. To Clear Memory: Turn ignition OFF Connect both male terminals to 5 & 6 Start engine Turn ignition OFF Disconnect both male terminals. Repeat read memory test to ensure memory is cleared. To read codes: Codes are shown by the blinking of the Power Steering light. Long light is 10, short light is units. e.g. 15 would be long light for 1.2 seconds, followed by 5 short lights of 0.3 seconds. Power Steering Codes [Electronic only!] are as follows: VF Light remains ON Faulty Source Voltage WF Light remains OFF Faulty check mode terminal, lamp, wiring etc 1 One short blink Shorted solenoid system circuit 2 Two short blinks Open in Solenoid system circuit 3 Three short blinks Faulty vehicle sensor 2 system 4 Four short blinks Faulty back-up power supply 5 Five short blinks Faulty engine speed signal system [incl EGI ECU] Normal is 0.6 second blinks and gaps. OK, so run those checks and see if it tells a story. Joe

cool thanks, i didn't see the write up in the how to section.
how do i tell if my car has the electronic power steering i believe mine does but i'm not sure

IIRC the LS didn't have it, but the LS-L did. Not sure about the later L, or LSi though.

ait, i thought in 92 the lsl was the same as the touring package?
as far as options go i have yet to find one that mine doesn't have. is there an easy way to tell?

LS-L = Touring (Leather, power driver's seat, sunroof, etc) LS = cloth, no power seat, no sunroof)

ok, so i got two codes one and two, any chance this is just unplugged i didn't have time to get under the car ,and it was snowing so i didn't investigate further
