Jacking up the SVX
When you jack up the back tire(s) do you jack on the rear differential or elsewhere?

I voted for the diff, but if I'm just doing one side, or using a small jack, I'll use the subframe mount just in front of the rear tire.

I am guilty of doing this.
It is not the best way to jack up an independent rear. The rear diff was not intended to support the weight of the car. A solid axle rear is designed to though. The "best" place it the jack point on the car. That is was the factory recommends, but then were do you put the jack stands Steve

I jack up my Legacy on the rear diff and put the jack stands under the sway-bar mounts.

If I'm only jacking up one side I put the stand where the rear subframe mounts in front of the rear tire and the stand justin front of it on the solid flat point.
If I'm jacking up the whole rear end I use the differential.

It says in the Chilton manual is says its ok. Most of the time when the SVX comes off the ground its with a lift.

I always thought the rear diff would be a bad spot until I bought the Service Manual. It specifies the rear diff, so that is what I use.

I have a really dumb question. I wanted to use the subframe to jack up the front of the car but the handle on my jack isn't long enough...keeps hitting the front bumper and it wont raise it. What are the suitable jacking points for jacking the front? Pics?

i think i used the front side jack points and rear points when i riased mine last month,
all 4 wheels off the ground, made the car look pretty cool wired up some lights underneath |

you can always use tow hooks to jack it up... I use the rear diff and front Subframe
