Black Uk Car On Ebay

Anyone know the black 97 SVX , seems to be a UK car currently on Ebay, item no 4609824597 ? 98k miles at £1500 so far. Looks good and sound and would sit nicely next to my 95M black one !

I can't believe that car sold for only 2750. Somebody got a real bargain.

Too True !

It closed when I was away as would have wanted to have a look over and maybe bid. That said my 95 M 95k miles cost £3k 12 mths ago with 92k miles on it ! They do not seem to get any more

Yeah, Phil, I was watching it as well.

I would have bought it, except for the fact that I have sunk so much money into Black Betty to have her road worthy.

To tell the real truth, if I had managed to sell both Legacies I have at the house, I'd have bought it anyway! Ann reacts badly when there are enough cars around the house to indicate a party or an auction in progress!

There's also one on ebay, selling for spares or repair, currently at £321 with about a day to go:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1
He has it listed as white, but it sure looks silver to me. It's a UK car with all the toys, and even with the gearbox misbehaving, it would be a bargain either for spares, or to do up the tranny and put it roadworthy.

Anybody interested over there?

[I PM'd James about the black one, I thought it would be a good choice for him. I think he was only getting back from the US at the time, probably missed it]

Joe

Belha takes a different view: The more Subarus parked outside our house the better.

£321 is a bargain for sure. Most parts on that car would cost more from a dealer.

I wonder what it would cost to get it back on the road. Did you see the engine photo? Notice the goo around the radiator cap. Could be the rad is cracked or it's boiling up.

Phil.

I didn't notice the goo. I HAVE noticed from our US brethren that they expect the plastic to separate from the rad top at anything around 150K miles. I'm kinda hoping Black Betty does not give me that sort of trouble [where's the smiley for fingers crossed?]

Bidding up to 430 now, but it is still worth it for parts.

Hey Phil, I recently bought on eBay June '05 edition of Practical Performance Car. It has an SVX buying guide at the back. The car illustrated is like your Peacock Blue one, JDM, same interior.

What a bargain!

Thanks Joe, but with being overseas and the credit card well and truely hammered to death, will take a while to recoup the funds!

Grrrr

I don't have a scanner Phil. Yet.

I promised myself one for January, but did not get around to buying one. I'll see about one in the next week or two, post up the scans.

Photography is iffy, btw, hard to see the colour, but the article is pretty good.

Joe

Grrrr

Pity it happened at the wrong time for you James.

That was the best bargain I have seen in the last three years.

Too bad you aren't closer. I have an extra SCSI scanner I would just give you.

That's generous, David. Thank you for the thought.

I am hoping to buy one with a film strip holder, which has high resolution and also scans fairly fast. I'm planning to archive all my 35mm film stock I've built over the years, and I feel it will be time-consuming.

Anyway, time consuming or not, I'm going to do it. Good film and flat bed scanners have got cheaper recently. Any recommendations if you are familiar with them?

Joe

Sorry, I have 2 scanners and neither have film holders. They are also several years old.

Thank you that was most encouraging.
It's time to de-lurk and reveal that I bought it!

It's going to take a while to go through all the service history and give ALL its important little places the once over, but it appears to be essentially unmolested and I intend to keep it that way.

The only little niggle I have found so far is that a making a manual change from 3-2 is a little violent (I hope that it's just a brake-band adjustment???).

This is not my first Subie (I had a Legacy before) but I'm sure that I'll be asking for help and advice at some time in the near future.

For those that missed out on bidding on this one, and are still looking for an SVX - be patient, it might be your turn next.
