Yet another brake pad thread
Ok, so Im ordering rotors and stainless lines and I was planing on going with the Akebono ProAct's but am wondering if I should save the $46 and go with the Axxis Metal Masters......
Has anyone here used both of them? Which did you like better? Let's here some opinions!

metal masters?
You probably know but I just wanted to make sure you dont order metal or and semi metallics if your rotors are slotted or drilled. It totally burnt my rotors up and squelled like you wouldnt believe. Im trying kevlar next, and then Il go to ceramic if those dont work. Kevlar was only half the cost so Im gona try them.

Mike,
Hadn't heard that actually, and iirc, there are some members who are running them Metal Masters without a problem. Could it be that your rotors were already bad and this caused the problems you had??? (I've never used Metal Masters or Akebonos) Also it was good meeting you and the family.

wow
Well I had some semi-metallics on their and they were ground down in two months. Thats just what the brake shop was telling me(that you cant run metal pads on slotted rotors because the slots take heat away from the rotors and return it back to the pad, which metal cannot stand the heat and something such as ceramic could absorb the heat and not squeel). My Rotors were all brand new but maybe the metalmaster is just a better brake pad? That was just the exp;anation I was given and it sounded logical so I went with it.

I highly recommend them, but they are expensive. If you have the money, I would definitely get them. If not, the Axxis pads are a good second choice. |
