I didn't mind the test pattern, it was the tone that drove me nuts, drove me nuts, drove me nuts.

OK, Matt, now you made me go into the garage to sniff my can.

(Hmmm... somehow that sounds funny).

Anyway, I have the little 3 oz. can with "pop-up" dispenser tip. It can't be THAT old - it has bar code stamped on it.

Ron (PB Blaster's for wimps).

One of the nice things about getting old, is you get to meet new friends, everyday .
And you get to hide your own Easter eggs .
And you get to meet new friends everyday .

I wouldnt call myself old

but I do remember the days of when tv was pretty much
over around 1am, and the closing phrase:
"that concludes our programming day....."

(remembered in the movie The Cable Guy)

and the jets and song.

when the knob stripped on the Tv from spinning it around
too fast, you had vise grips on top of the tv or pliers to change
the channels
Dont forget the old school antenna (aka lightening rod) on
the roof you had to turn constantly to the station in just a little
clearer.

whats a PB Blaster ? or do we not use them in Az ?

All in all it was never bad
we had better music, less crime, and girls still rebelled with not wearing much for clothes.
Cars where even better, well at least before 74 and just starting again in 81 !!

PB Blaster is a very nice solvent and penetrating lubricant. The can includes such gems as "As seen on TV" and a small diagram showing how it can dissolve a styrofoam cup. It's sort of like God gave us PB, as if to say, "Sorry about rust and road grime, my child..."

With a wire brush and a supply of PB Blaster, one could disassemble the Titanic without stripping a bolt.

Unfortunately, I didn't find the stuff until after I butchered the CV bolts on the aforementioned VW. What were those guys thinking, using Allen head bolts on the underside of a vehicle?

And it seems odd now that we made the distinction between "jets" and conventional aircraft. Delta's ad slogan: Fly Delta's Big Jets. The airline flew Douglas DC-8s with water-injected turbojet engines that on takeoff left a trail of black smoke for miles. And they were LOUD.

Then Northwest Orient came along and advertised itself as, "The Fan Jet Airline," and Eastern boasted of its "Wisperjets."

And there was no airport security as we know it now. I remember driving Dad's '62 Impala to the airport and parking in the Delta employee lot (because he had a permit on the windshield), riding the employee shuttle to an employee entrance on the ramp, and just wandering around, people-and-airplane watching. Try that today.

I was hanging out about nine years ago, with my boys in a parking lot when they were about 7+6.
Some low life had dropped a load of trash at the edge of the parking lot.
While looking over the pile of discarded stuff, one of them picked up a L-P record and asked what it was.
I said "a record".
They replied "Like a sports record?"
They had never seen one.

And with all the new changes and modern technology,
~200 channels and nothing on.
turning up the “brightness” all the way still doesn’t change a thing- the idiots are still on the screen.

Thats right, NO 24 hour TV !

It was a simple time, when parents beat their young

and if you gave your neighbor a concussion, it was not a matter for the courts.
I remember that, you old geezer.

Yeah, that pretty much sucked. My car always had oils spilled onto the block until I got smart and purchased one of those nozzle spouts with the long neck that would snap onto the can.

E Lube

Anyone out there ever hear of E Lube actually short for Essential Lube. It was designed to put in the engine to clean valves, etc, but is a wonderful rust buster. Squirt a little on and leave it over night and the toughest rusted bolt surrenders. Nearly all farmers in the SW had a 30 gallon barrel.

I still use it. Wonderful stuff.

As to a torch and heat---if you work on heavy equipment with the big ass bolts you still use the heat method.

Anyone ever remember seeing a TV with a ROUND screen other than in the museum? Now that will tell your age.
