damn you window

So my window has been having an issue the past few months. On the drivers side door panel where all the window controls are, the switches for the drivers window and rear left dont work that well....the switches aren't tight...their loose and they rock back and forth....hit them the right way and the window goes down perfectly....pull up on it and it goes up all the time. Recently the drivers switch has gotten alot worse...and i have to avoid drive thry's and what not cuz the window likes to be selective in going down. So today on my way back home from school im doing approx 55 in a 40 and i get stopped by the police. He comes to my window and of course i can't get it to go down so the nice officer sees me fidgiting (sp?) and starts yelling at me to stop. He asked me to open the door...i gave him my stuff and he was nice enough to let me off the hook. As i was pulling away from the side the damned thing opened. I cursed and screamed all the way home. Someone has mentioned opening the door panel and opening the box to gain access to the switches and stuffing a paper clip in there so the switch won't rock and it will work right. I dont think the whole thing is shot as it works fine when it decides to go down...the lightest tug on the switch makes it go right back up. Are the two screws on the inside of the door toward the front of the car the only ones that hold the door on? Its gotten to the point where the window won't go down at all anymore unless i press it in an awkward way and even then it doesnt go down sometimes.

Just in case you didn't already find the answer.

No those aren't the only screws. Under the felt at the armrest are 2 or three scres (some owners find 3, I have two). There's also a screw under a plastic piece at the door handle (you have to pop out the plastic trim piece).

The bottom of the door is just some pop on/off plastic trim things (don't know what they're officially called). Lift up on the door and pull away - carefully, there are two wire bundles attached.

I see the white plastic peice that pushes down....it came out with the switch itself. I dont see whats broken or anything. The switch is loose and rocks back and forth when in place.

If you have the drivers button off, do you see the brass/gold color metal strip ? (I had to take apart the whole switch box) If you do, connect the the switch module back to the wiring harness, and push down on the metal strip, does the window move up/down ? If not there might be something else wrong. If yes, then it looks like the plastic switch does not push the metal strip far enough for the window to work. I stuck a small slightly thick piece of plastic on the metal strip. This way the switch was able to push the metal strip far enough to get the window working.

PS: I PM'd you.

I PM'd u back. Ill go back into the garage and plug the harness back in and press down on the white plunger looking thing to see if anything happens. I didnt take the black cover off thats scrwed on top. Maybe ill have to do that if this doesnt work. Its amazing how much a pain in the ass something as small as a window switch can be

And i did not see this brass thing on the drivers switch. Only saw it for the back switch ( the switch fell off so i can see everything). Now what? Do i have to unscrew that black cover off to get deep into it?

I still believe that one of the plastic tabs that holds the switch button in place is broken and needs to be glued back on. I want to see a side view of this switch (without the button) when you can get one.
