Have you tried checking the power readings in the BIOS to see if they're fluctuating wildly? That'd be your best clue that it really is a power supply issue...

Well here's my setup:

Asus P4P800
Prescott 3Ghz CPU overclocked to 3.4Ghz
1GB DDR400 (i added heat spreaders for overclocking)
Dual WDC 80GB SATA drives
CD burner
DVD ROM
LS120 Drive
Zip Drive
Peerless drive
Radeon X800 (AGP)
Digital Fan controller
six 3" ball bearing fans (two are lighted)

All of that on an Antec 400W PSU.

My fan controller really helps out in the sound department. It has two probes...one for the processor heat sink, one to measure ambient air inside the case. I can program the controller to kick on any of the fans at any temps I want. So when i'm just surfing, or typing, it's dead quiet. But when i'm rendering in Cobalt or playing a game or something, the additional fans kick in.

In my mind...purposely putting water in close proximity to a computer mainboard is just begging for disaster.

i was thinking about that but the condensation could be a problem. you would have to have the computer runing all the time to evaporate any moisture.

the coolant that they use is non conductave so if their is a leak nothing will short out. i know a few people who have used koolance atx cases, one for three years without any leaks. so im confident that it wont be a problem. i was thinking of getting a fan controler but i can with the fans im useing their not variable speed and they uses the some power plug that my drives do so theirs no way for me to even plug them into a controler.

but as for now with the computer striped down its working fine. i just spent about five hours recording and editing a track for my album.

i'm sure a way could be implemented to eliminate the condensation issue. use your imagination.

Noir <---- dumbass, doesn't overclock, has a bunch of servers, doesn't need a watercooled chassis. other than the hype, i don't see any benefits of 6 fans and watercooling.

fun, pushing something to the limits? Gearhead meets overclocking case...

You get slightly cleaner voltage and imperceptible clock increases with liquid cooling, less dust collection with multiple air vents. Dust being a great insulator.

I don't do any of that stuff either and have never seen the need.

Refrigerators are made to keep something cold, not to combat a hundred-watt heat source. The life expectancy drops quite significantly if the compressor is running all the time. If you want phase-change cooling, do it right.

im not a big overclocker eather. i udes to back in the day with the ati 9800 pro but now my components are so expensive that its to much of a risk. the lga 775 produces alot of heat (ideles at 40-45 C) same with the gpu i figure watercooling is a good insurence. its something that i can use for the rest of myy life when i build a new system all i have to change is the coller blocks. plus it removes the noise while im recording.

one more problem.

im getting this bios error

2005/02/07 00:43:47 Warning:=CPU Core Voltage: 92V

mini refrigerators are cheap. guess you could always buy one of those wall mount a/c units and then rig up some duct work to blow directly into the computer or an enclosure that the computer will sit in. there used to be a place by GA Tech that was a linux workshop. they used gas station type coolers bought from auctions to put their linux boxes in and kept it cool. they used those for many, many, many years. this was 10 years ago, those guys are probably still using it.

I'm actually quite surprised at how cool the Athlon 64 CPU's are to the touch. I've run several of them at 100% load and the OEM heatsinks are still cool to the touch.

Last system I built was an Athlon 2800, 1GB RAM, ASUS K8N-E Deluxe, Radeon 9800 Pro 200GB HDD with a crappy 500W power supply. No extra fans were required. It's fast and quiet.

p.s. Anything more than a Radeon 9800 is overkill and a waste of money.

Right now.

Actually, anything over a 2.0Ghz Northwood is overkill too.

I like to not have to rebuild my computer every six months. I hope to have this setup for at least 3-4 years before i have to look to do major upgrades.

Agreed. I never waste my money on the latest and greatest. 6 months later there will be a new model out and the one you bought will be half the price. Nothing wrong with staying 1 or 2 steps behind.
