A sunroof basically went the way of the dodo... It was a metal slab that could be propped open, removed or slid out of the way.

One of the big car companies (I believe it was Ford...) coined the term "Moonroof" a couple decades back to refer to the first glass panels that would allow light in even if closed.

So.. Technically.. Anything you see these days is actually a moonroof.

oh he's good -lol-

yes the glass part is the key.
Glass = moon roof
a sunroof can either pop up, slide, power or maunal but its not glass....

I think it was GM in the 80's with regard to the STS?

Ahh.. Found it.. It was in the 70's and it was Ford:

http://ask.yahoo.com/ask/20030617.html

"Sunroof" is the generic term used to describe an operable panel in a vehicle roof which can let in light and/or air. "Moonroof" is a term created by Ford in the 70s, yet is now used generically to describe glass panel inbuilt electric sunroofs.

Hmmm, so all moonroofs are sunroofs, yet not all sunroofs are moonroofs? We found further clarification -- "sunroof" is the term originally used to describe a metal panel that would only allow light or air in when opened. A "moonroof," on the other hand, is a glass panel that can allow light in even when it is closed (provided, of course, you slide back that nifty fabric-covered panel to expose the glass).

True sunroofs, those made just of metal, appear to have gone the way of 8-tracks in automobiles, and these days, most "sunroofs" are really "moonroofs" -- panels of tempered glass, usually tinted, that tilt up to allow a flow of air, or slide back into the roof entirely, giving the car occupants a brief but tantalizing glimpse of life in a convertible.

One thing I would want to add.........
Lambo Style Doors... and I dont meen ones that have to swing outward 1 foot before going up eather!

Im sorry... But TRUE Lambo doors... atleast I think... would look
JUST RIGHT on these cars... I meen still to this day I get people
asking me "is that a lambo?"

I think Lambo Style Doors would make our cars Totaly Unique.
Lets add up:

BOXER 6 Cyl, with AWD Tranny
GREAT Stablity even with the Heavy Weight.
our GREATLY Designed Windows.

No other car has those 3 together... adding the Lambo doors...
would add another on the list, that no other car has... Combined

P.S. Or I would add a Custom Made Trunk/Spoiler in one like the Prototype.... i STILL WANT ONE OF THOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if it only had...

The one thing the SVX should have got was an all metal radiator. On a car that sold for 30k the plastic one is just too cheesy.

My tranny lasted me up to 150k. it was the oem tranny made for the car. Don't think the fwd trannies are bad, cuz they last longer than the awd ones. we just need to worry bout the diff

Like I said in another thread, I'm working on that one...although it would have been nice if they included one with the car.

The next thing on my list of mods to my car would have to be rims/tires.

If I had a stock SVX and could only choose a single mod it would have to be a JDM Forester STi 6 spd tranny.

For us older drivers, a bullet proof 5 speed auto, who the hell wants to shift all the time, especially in rush hour.
