Who would you trust to paint your SVX?

Alright.. I know.. it's a little early to be thinking of this... As I don't even have her yet, but...

Don't get me wrong.. I like the Polo Green, but I've always been a fan of black... ..and the SVX is just so bloody sleek she screams to look just that evil.

So.. National services that I might have locally, who would you suggest?

I couldn't recommend any national chains. I find out where cruise night folks hang out, tell them how many $$ you got and ask for recommendations (from those with good paint of course).

Why don't you hold out for one that is already black?

Oh the same place that did nnjsvx's SVX.
It's in Vernon, NJ and his car looks fantastic.
I think he got a great price.
He asked them to do it as fill in work and left it there for awhile.
It looks better than new.

I might as well jump in on this one. I have an ebony SVX that has been, well, the original owner used to garage keep it until he got his STi. I bought it from him and it has a few spots where it has been sun baked. If anyone knows a decent national chain, or some place in the Atlanta metro area, I'd love to hear it.

I like Lee's recommendation best. Talk it up with folks you know who've had good paint work done. It's just not possible to recommend this or that national chain, because what matters is the craftsmanship of the people doing the work, not the name on the sign.

Paint Job

I had my SVX painted before at a place where BMW and Audi dealers had there cars painted. They took their time and removed items like tail light & head lights not just mask around them. I wish I had pictures of my SVX all striped apart. Well, its been several years now, I now had stone chips and a few door dings, thinking about getting it painted over again. Another $3000!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I were you, I'd hold out for a black SVX if that's what you really want. Or buy the green one and, instead of painting it black, spend that money on a black one.

I just wouldn't recommend changing the car's color unless you're prepared to spend thousands.

..and there's the stopping point right there...

See, it's not something I'd ever researched.. Even in passing... and had no idea it would be in the 'thousands' range... I was thinking a few hundred, maybe up to a grand.

Green... Green is good.. I can live with green...

If you don't mind green door jams, under the hood, in the trunk, etc, and don't mind having a 50ft car (looks good from 50ft away), then a few hundred dollar paint job *might* work for you.

Don't skimp on $ for paint, you really get what you pay for! Painting the little bits like the door jam, under the hood, trunk, etc. take a lot of time. And as we all know time is money!
