Car Break In

Went out to drive my Pealie to work this morning and as I was getting in, I noticed something on the back seat. GLASS!! I looked around and Yep, the stereo was gone. They left their 12" screw driver on the passenger seat that they used to pry it out along with other parts of the dash. They just hacked away at the wires until they got the unit out. What a mess. I though at least that is all the damage. Called the Sheriff, and they would not come out because they were too busy with other car prowls. I left the car there and drove to work in another car. When I got home, I moved the car out to clean out all of the glass. I went to the passenger side where the broken window was (back one) and then saw what that jerk had done. He had used the screw driver to try to pry out the door handle to get in. He put the screw driver between the door pannel and the handle and bent the metal down about 2 to 3". He kept doing that until he had a big hole in the door and then gave up. Then they just broke the window to get in.

I just got that car painted, and now have to try to match the paint. The metal is all bent up and the paint is cracked. Not a very nice thing.

It is only a car, but it ticks me off that some jerk needed that stereo so bad that he had to damage the car that bad.

Damn Earl im sorry to hear that . I dont know if the cops will take your case that seriously but maybe those idiots left their prints on the screwdriver

My initial feeling was shock. I'm sorry Earl. The stereo units are not worth destroying the car over. I only wish you would have had a nasty dog to take a bite out of his dumb ass. I hope the damage can somehow be rectified. To any would be thieves out there, leave our SVXes alone. Altho I am somewhat of a newbe, I feel I can say. "When you screw with one of us Svxers, you screw with all of us!" Anything I can do for you just shout.

Sorry to hear about the bad news Earl.

That car looked so nice. I'm just wondering but did you have the alarm armed on the car and the radio cage up?

Did you have an aftermarket unit or did they steal the stock one?

It sounds like some punk kid if someone tried to pry the handle off.


I hope you catch the theif. May he burn in hell, or be damned to drive a neon... j/k not trying to offend anyone if any of you drive/like neons.

I dispise tossers like that. If you need anything Earl, give me a shout. I do have the stock CD player, but it doesn't work the greatest. It probably just needs a good cleanin'.

It was an after market unit that was installed before I got the car. It was not that special, and I have a stock on that I will try to put in. I will have lots of wires I will have to figure out. I will try to get some pictures tomorrow. I need to get a couple of parts like the window and stereo cage with door. The thief got that too.

I will get the car back to school now that they started this week, and see what they can do for me. I have a few tricks up my sleeve to make sure this doesn't happen again.

I should put a sign outside saying "I found a screw driver, inquire within to get it returned" - the donkey would probably come by to get it.

i had a $99 Radio Shack cassette player stolen out of one of my old beater cars - but they left the top-of-the-line Pioneer 6x9's sitting on the rear deck. people are idiots.

So they just hit the 1 ? perhaps its time to invest in a security cam.

Maybe a stupid question, but- did you have the valence cover 'up' or 'down' during the break-in? In other words, did he see something he liked or just assumed that a nice stereo was under the conver?

I've always wondered about the value of the cover.......

Some corn farmers have told me that if you hang a dead crow out in the corn patch, the other won't come in anymore. I am thinking about doing that with this. I will catch him, hang him by his left ankle on the power pole, or spred his hide on the shed. Maybe the rest will stay away.
