How much oil...
...does the EG33 actually need to survive, I wonder. I mean, my Justy can get by, I've found, with only a half a quart in it. The EG33 takes, what, 6.5 quarts? I wonder how much it needs to keep itself lubricated and cool...

That's kind of a morbid question there Pockets...
 Lowest oil I've heard of being run in an EG33 is ~5qts and it had no long term harmful effects on that engine... -Chike Quote:

I can tell you that the 1.8 in an '86 GL could run quite a ways with no oil showing on the dipstick and still last over 200,000 miles. (Don't ask.) Surely someone has a similar experience to relate involving the EG33.

The dipstick only shows the last quart or so. That 1.8 could have had 3 quarts in it...

Let's put it this way: When the wife pulled into the driveway following her trip to Atlanta and back, I could smell the car as soon as I opened the front door. A sickening smell, at that.

i drove my svx for 4 months with hardly any oil in it because the bastard who had my car before me said he just changed the oil before he sold it to me.
